FAQ

HOW TO VOTE
We have polls along with each post that allow members to give their opinion on the following:
  • the monthly theme (if necessary)
  • which books to read.
  • when our meetings will be held.
  • social events we will hold throughout the year.
MEETINGS
What do you do at your meetings?
At our monthly meetings, we discuss the book of the month and vote on the following month’s book.  We also discuss issues that are relevant to the club, such as which charity events members would like to participate in, and ideas for club socials.

If necessary, we hold one election meeting at the beginning of the school year. At this meeting, members elect Committee Members and Directors for the current school year. If there are no candidates for each Committee, their roles will be absorbed by the Director, who will ask for member input as to club decisions.

How often are your meetings?
We hold meetings once a month, but we also have club social events that are separate from the monthly meetings. We do not hold meetings in December and April, to allow our members to study for exams.

When are your meetings?
Our meetings are once a month, on weekday evenings. Members are sent a poll before each meeting to determine its date and time in a democratic way.

Where are your meetings?
All of our meetings are held at the University of Toronto on the St. George campus. For the exact location on campus, check our site, or you can simply wait until we send out an email if you’re already a member.

Do I have to go to meetings?

Attending meetings is completely optional.  We always love seeing fellow Bookenders, but if you can’t make it to meetings, there are other ways for members to participate, such as:
  • social events
  • polls
